Hemorrhoids are enlarged veins that develop within the anal canal. Although discomfited at times, this common condition seldom poses a serious problem.
Normally, tissue surrounding the inside of the anus, sometimes called "anal cushions," fill with blood to give a hand control bowel movements. Hemorrhoids develop when excessive pressure or other factors effect the veins inwardly these cushions to swell and stretch.
Nearly everyone has hemorrhoids at some time. They can develop at any age, but the incidence increases after age 30. About 50% of associates older than 50 own had hemorrhoids at some time contained by their life.
