What cause dry itchy hot inflamed skin?

My husband's whole facade has suddenly become dry and flaky and it is hot and itchy and sore. Its individual on his face. What could exact this? We cant think of anything different we own eaten, or drank, no unmarked soaps or lotions. His eyelids are even a little puffy and he have a sore starting on the corner of his left eye. It is spreading to his ears immediately. Any ideas? If you construe its allergies, what can he take that wont get him drowsy?What cause dry itchy hot inflamed skin?

I know this sounds chance, but it could be an allergic reaction! I found out I'm allergic to oysters...!
It also could be that anything he uses, might dry out his skin so badly, that his skin react like that!
